It's raining outside. It's been raining all day, since Brussels. It's quite fitting, being the end of the holiday. Due to bad weather, the Sea France boat that I had booked to sail on at 4.45 had not yet left Dover, when I checked in, and there was going to be a serious delay. To stand any chance of getting my 6.30 train from Dover, I booked onto the P&O sailing at 5.15. It's going to be touch and go.
I have about three quarters of an hour between the ferry arriving in Dover and the train leaving Dover station, which is over a mile from the port. If I get that train, and make all the connections, I get to Bristol just before 11. If I don't, the adventure continues as I try to find my back to Bristol for 9am tomorrow.
We are swaying already by a few degrees, and we're still in the harbour. The captain has just been on to announce that the weather is improving, and the journey is expected to take 90 minutes. So far so good.
